"I am the bread of life!" (John 6:35) During the Passover, Jesus took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "This is my body, which will be given for you." (See Luke 22:19) The life of Jesus has been especially "broken" and "given" to us on the cross! Likewise, when we receive the Eucharist, we also should know how to love by "breaking" and "giving" out our life to others as the essence of love is the life of the Trinity. Jesus also prayed for this intention, "Father, May all of them be one!" (John 17:21) Therefore, when we sacrifice ourselves for our neighbors, we become the Eucharist of others, both "broken" and "given"!
