"Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man." (Luke 6:22) The Passion that Jesus took on was the intention of our Heavenly Father. At the time when Jesus was taken by the soldiers, one of His disciples (Peter) drew his sword and struck at the high priest's servant. Jesus said to him: "Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?" (Reference to Mathew 26:51-54) "Just as there were many who were appalled at him, his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness" (Isaiah 52:14) God's love for mankind has been relentless, thus all things foretold about the Messiah (work of the Holy Spirit) must be fulfilled. Such mission of sacrifice was beyond imagination, it can only come from the purest and unconditional love from God. Jesus said it should be our blessings if we are to experience similar treatment because of our Christianity. Since we can have the opportunity to share part of the sufferings of Christ, we also get the chance to participate in the mission of saving mankind. Jesus has fulfilled his mission conclusively by scarifying his life for us on the cross. The sacrifices of good men can help reduce the anger of God due to the ongoing sinfulness of mankind. Please see how Abraham had pleaded for his people to God in the city of Sodom: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake." (Gen 18:23-26) Today, God will be happy to see the kind of love we are expressing to one and other. People might have judged an act as foolish; but in God's eyes it could be a great work. And Jesus himself had sacrificed in such a way.
