Brother Roger is the founder of a Protestant monastery in Taize, a small village in Eastern France. During the 60's, under the influence of secularism, many European youths started losing sight of their faith. In light of this, Br. Roger transformed a part of the monastery into an oratory, and encouraged young people from different denominations to unite in prayer.

Icons, the works of religious from the Eastern Churches, are the focal point in Taize prayer. Through melodic chanting, prayer with icons and silence all within a subdued and candle-lit environment, young people may feel the presence of God and the Holy Spirit. To date, Taize prayer is one of the most popular styles of prayer used among young people.

Starting in November, Taize prayer will be held at our parish every second Saturday of the month at 8:30 in the evening. All parishioners are welcome, especially the youths and young people. During the prayer, priests will minister the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
