In the recent Council of Priests, the Archdiocese of Toronto released a document regarding the number of clergy serving in Toronto. There are 851 priests, 408 are diocesan priests, and 443 are religious priests. Of these, 83 priests are retired. The average age of all the serving priests is fifty-one years old.<br/><br/>

Presently, there are 106 permanent deacons in the Archdiocese of Toronto. In 2003, twenty brothers will receive the sacrament of deaconate.<br/><br/>

Under our Archdiocese of Toronto, there are 227 dioceses with 44 ethnic parishes. About 53% of the parishes have only one priest, and 34% of them have two serving priests.<br/><br/>

In 2003, seven priests will reach their retirement years, and there will be one in 2004.<br/><br/>

Six deacons will receive the Sacrament of Deaconate in 2003, and 8 deacons in 2004 and 2005.<br/><br/>
