“Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house." (Luke 19: 5) Due to curiosity, Zacchaeus climbed up on the sycamore tree to see Jesus. Jesus unceremoniously looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly!” Jesus knew that Zacchaeus was being curious, but He also saw Zacchaeus’ pure and good heart. So, Jesus did not hesitate to say to him, “Today I must stay at your house”. The reason that Jesus was willing to go to Zacchaeus’ house was to “seek those who were lost”, but He was also taking a great risk. As a matter of fact, Jesus was criticized for dining with sinners, because the tax collectors were regarded by the Jews as "public sinners". Jesus suffered for us, but maybe it was futile, because we may not appreciate His kindness. In spite of that, God’s love is always beyond our imagination. When Peter denied Jesus three times, Luke narrated, “The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered what the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will have disowned me three times." Once he went outside, he wept bitterly.” It’s such a blessing to be able to get close to Jesus!
