“…stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49) When Jesus was living with his disciples on earth, they could turn to Him whenever they were in doubt. But Jesus told them He will return to the kingdom of God, one reason was for preparing room for them; the other was to send down the Holy Spirit among them, so they could carry on with His everlasting mission for the salvation of the world. One can see God’s architectural plan through the discipline of nature, though so elaborated, mystified and complicated, yet systematically consistent. The same goes for God’s salvation plan for the world, which is anticipating one step at a time, and has its own order. Since the history of Jesus became man to save the world, already over 2000 years had gone by, but the work of the Holy Spirit in revitalizing and sanctifying this world is going on nonstop, even so as a daily task. How could we cease to glorify such a miraculous mission of God. People are so used to lack of patience, we expect results without giving much time or efforts on every occasions. Jesus was aware that we are impatience, and are in a habit of worrying for the future and the past, so He said: “Do not worry about tomorrow; the cross for today has enough trouble for you of its own.” The Holy Spirit is to help us to understand God’s holy plans at each present moment, and how to put them into practice. Jesus worked as a carpenter for 30 years before He preached the Gospel. When he was 12 years old, there had been three days that he spent educating in the Holy Temple; other then that, he was always at his Nazareth home with Joseph and Mary, attending their needs. Praying is a very good way to temporary put off our miscellaneous thoughts and chores, so our mind can be focus on a heart to heart experience with God. Before praying, ask the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts, so we could have the space to fully accept God’s presence with all our hearts and souls.
