“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7) The Parable of the Grapevine indicated the spiritual lives and the spiritual behaviours of the followers of Jesus, all due to their being connected to Christ; just like the vines were connected to the branches. Its effect would become: “ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7) The Gospel of Matthew has the identical record: “if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matt 18:19-20) No matter praying as an individual or praying among a community, getting Jesus in the midst is of utmost importance. We shall not doubt the effectiveness of prayer, because “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (Matt 6:8) Jesus desires that our souls always be uplifted and active, living in love and in the word of God. After each miracle, Jesus would say, “Your faith has saved you.” (Mark 5:34). So to speak, Jesus cared most on how we lead our spiritual lives.
