“Pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44) While Jesus was being crucified, he said, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) In fact, Jesus’ crucifixion was due to the Jewish’s jealously. At about three o’clock in the afternoon, Jesus cried out in the words taken from Psalm 22:2, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Jesus expressed how sorrowful he felt to the Father, but did not complaint to anyone else. When the time came, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” Jesus’ mission on earth is to lead people back to the Father’s arms. He replied to the criminal on His right, “Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43) When Stephen was executed, he said, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” Luke added this on the Acts of the Apostles, that Saul consented to Stephen’s execution. In the end, Stephen’s prayers won the grace and conversion of Saul. As we can see, Jesus works silently on us. Anything will be solved, if we are willing to be His handy tool. Lord, let us have a generous heart that can forgive all those who have offended us.
