“Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.” (Matthew 10:33) Peter made it clear to Jesus that, “Though all may have their faith in you shaken, mine will never be.” But Jesus for certain said to Peter , “Amen, I say to you, this very night before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.” At the end, all came true as Jesus foretold at the Mount of Olives, “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Let us look closely at what happened at the high priest's courtyard: ‘Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. One of the maids came over to him and said, "You too were with Jesus the Galilean.” But he denied it in front of everyone, saying, “I do not know what you are talking about!” As he went out to the gate, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This man was with Jesus the Nazorean.” Again he denied it with an oath, “I do not know the man!” A little later the bystanders came over and said to Peter, “Surely you too are one of them; even your speech gives you away.” At that he began to curse and to swear, “I do not know the man.” And immediately a cock crowed. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken: “Before the cock crows you will deny me three times.” He went out and began to weep bitterly.’ (Matthew 26:69-75) The lovely part of Peter was his repentance. As a result, Jesus gave him an important task before His Ascension. Let us look at John’s description: ‘When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" Peter replied, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs." Jesus then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter replied, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Tend my sheep." And Jesus said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep. (John 21:15-17) Jesus’ generosity is beyond human imagination.
