“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” (Matthew 11:29) A “Yoke” represents a narrow door, as entering it requires extra effort. Thus Jesus said, “Whoever wishes to come after me… take up his cross, and follow me.” Although it is a yoke and a narrow door, it is light and easy to carry or pass through because Jesus never leaves us behind. He said, “Learn from me!” After that He said, “I am meek and humble of heart.” Jesus understands that many crosses are within our ability to bear, but due to our inflexibility, they end up being an extra burden. “Meek and humble of heart “means being completely faithful to the Lord and also means, “Not come to be served but to serve.” The prayer of Jesus in the Mount of Olives, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup away from me, but not what I will but what you will.” (Mark 14:36) The purpose of Jesus coming to the world was to follow His Father’s will and live out his life with complete love. Affirmatively speaking: We have enough graces to bear the cross of ourselves (not of others), thus Jesus said, “My yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Since it is light and easy, then we should act like a child and put our trust to the Lord with all our heart.
