“Then Jesus said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Messiah of God.”” The Gospel of Matthew explained in more detail about Peter’s response: “Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”” (Matthew 16:17-19) After His resurrection, Jesus reaffirmed Peter ‘s position as the head of the Church while they were out at the Sea of Tiberias: “When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep. "” (John 21:15-17) God bestowed us with grace as a gift. “Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” We not only have the duty to keep this gift but also have the obligation to share it with others! The Gospel of Luke has the following conclusion: “Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap.” (Luke 6:38)
