“How terrible for you! (Pharisees) You are like unmarked graves which people walk on without knowing it.”(Luke 11:44) Although without knowing, people will get a touch of dirt when walking on graves. What Jesus meant was: actions without love are the same as impurity which can contaminate others. These people may have gorgeous appearance but without luster. Please listen to the Gospel of Matthew: “How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look fine on the outside but are full of bones and decaying corpses on the inside.”(Matthew 23:27) Man is made in the image of God. Only with selfless love, man can enter into eternal life. The Achilles’ heel of the Pharisees is that they like to make their importance felt, but ignore the charity toward their neighbours. When we live in mutual love, we live in God, which means we are already living in heaven. “For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them.”(Matthew 18:20) Living in God’s will constantly is the guarantee of peace.
