“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16) A very clear message: Jesus Christ is the only savior of mankind. “As you enter a house, wish it peace. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; if not, let your peace return to you. Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words--go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet. Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.” (Matthew 10:12-15) “Shake the dust from your feet”: in no doubt, it symbolizes the Jews and Gentiles who did not accept the Gospel. The life of the Gospel is like a house built upon a rock: “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” (Matthew 7:24) Paul encouraged the believers to live out the Gospel as a life criterion: “Only, conduct yourselves in a way worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear news of you, that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind struggling together for the faith of the gospel.” (Philippians 1:27) “One spirit one mind” indicates the importance of living in a focused state and refusing to leave the Church of Christ for messages of heresy. “You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 10:22) Lord, please grant us the grace of perseverance!
