“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (John 6:51) “The living bread” means Jesus is the strength for those who are willing to act on God’s will. “Because without me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) If we with Jesus in our midst or Christ in us, it is naturally easy to see the presence of Jesus on others. Please listen to what will Jesus say during the final judgment: ““Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” Then the righteous will answer him and say, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?” And the king will say to them in reply, “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”” (Matthew 25:34-40) Jesus re-emphasized that only in Him, and then we can live in the same way as he did. “Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.” (John 6:57) The Eucharistic body of Christ is our real living bread: “It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” (John 6:63) Let us cherish the graceful moment of this earthly life. When life is over, living in the moment of God’s justice is to come.
