“Child, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:5)

 The paralytic received healing to his body as well as his soul because he has shown lots of love.

Please listen to the words that Jesus said in Simon’s house:

Jesus said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? When I entered your house, you did not give me water for my feet, but she has bathed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

You did not give me a kiss, but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the time I entered.

You did not anoint my head with oil, but she anointed my feet with ointment.

So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.” (Luke 7:44-47)

Likewise, Jesus forgave the thief who was crucified next to Him, for he pleaded guilty and cried for mercy from Jesus.

“One of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus, saying, "Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us."

The other, however, rebuking him, said in reply, "Have you no fear of God, for you are subject to the same condemnation?

And indeed, we have been condemned justly, for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes, but this man has done nothing criminal."
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

He replied to him, "Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."” (Luke 23:39-43)

This criminal did not even think that he could go to heaven and only asked Jesus to remember him. However, Jesus replied to him, “Today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Jesus noticed the faith of the paralytic and his four friends who brought him down from the roof. He deliberately said, “Courage, child, your sins are forgiven.” (Matthew 9:2)

We can see that faith is one’s connotation, which includes the contrite of own sins.

If we do not have the spirit of repentance, our faith on the surface will merely be like an empty shell, which lacks virtue.
