“The greatest among you shall be your servant.” (Matthew 23:11) Thus, Jesus washes his Disciples’ feet during the Passover Feast. “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.” (John 13:14) According to Jewish tradition, it is adequate to wash one another's hands when having the Passover Feast. Yet, Jesus washes every Disciple's feet. He has shown us the full extent of his love. He reminds us that it is not enough to do what we interpret as required to do. Jesus hates to see us do everything only for men to see and approve. The easiest trap we fall into is when we are too nice in helping people for this is not what they need. In that moment, maybe we love to be greeted and fulfill our own satisfaction more than helping others.
