Jesus owned little. Naturally, when His companions were invited to "come and see",they did not find a home of splendor or luxury. Jesus had said, "Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lie down and rest." John and Andrew, originally disciples of John the Baptist, accepted Jesus' invitation and became His followers. What attracted these two disciples? Later on, when Andrew encountered his younger brother Simon, he told Simon, "We have found the Messiah." What did Andrew really mean by "Messiah"? Jesus possessed a unique charisma that distinguished him from other people; this quality is what attracted the disciples. When they were with Jesus, they knew they had found life's calling. When we love one another, we cannot help but sense Jesus' presence in our midst.
