Today’s Responsorial Psalm after the first reading is Psalms 118. One of the phrases in the passage “The stone rejected by the builders has now become the cornerstone.” was often used by Jesus to describe Himself. In the Jews’ opinion, Jesus’ mission as the Messiah was a failure because he did not help free the Israelis from the Romans’ rule. However, they forgot that Jesus leads not only the Israelis but He also frees the whole human race from the rule of sins into God’s peaceful and compassionate world. From time to time, Jesus stated that whatever work He needed to complete was what Our Father commanded. In other people’s view, we may not be outstanding. But if we do the best we can, we are still God’s helpful servants.
