James and John, the two brothers, wished that they could be in Jesus’ glory, and might sit one at His left and the other at His right. According to what is written in the book of Matthew, their mother tried to convince Jesus to grant the brothers their wish. Today, we know that the apostles had misunderstood the mission of Jesus Christ. Regardless of the motive of the two apostles, their wish is being close to Jesus. During the Last Supper, John was the one who reclined and leaned towards Jesus’ chest. Peter had also been rebuked for his repulsion for Jesus, asking Him not to speak of His suffering and rejection. However, Peter did not confine himself to his own ego. He soon flowed through Jesus’ good will. Peter had said a remarkable phrase, “Master, to whom shall we go if we leave You?” Let’s follow Him Our Lord. We need the courage to admit our faults, as well as passion and faith to depend totally on the Lord.
