“Teacher, what are we to do, then?” John the Baptist’s disciples asked because they were concerned by John’s teachings, “Do not start saying among yourselves that Abraham is your ancestor. I tell you that God can take these stones and make descendants for Abraham! The saw is ready to cut down the trees at the roots; every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown in the fire.” John demanded his disciples to be satisfied, to eradicate greed, and to be ready to share with other people. He not only advised the disciples to “not give to others what you yourself do not desire” (Confucius’ teaching); he also required them to “do to others what you desire to be done to yourself”. Paul emphasized that “Joy” originates from selflessness and from the desire the share with others. Therefore, strive to live in solidarity and union with your brothers and sisters – start today!
