Know-how on Fire Fighting and Prevention

The Parish has recently invited Mr. So to be our guest speaker to conduct a talk on Fire Fighting and Prevention. Mr. So is serving as a fireman in the Toronto Fire Services Department On delivering his speech, Mr. So has given us several pieces of information and know-how to fight and prevent fire. They are all valuable for our reference.

(1) We have to know the exact location of all fire exits. In the Don Bosco Hall in the basement of our church, there are two fire exits on both sides of the hall in addition to the two stairways which lead us up to the ground floor. In the chancel, all fire exits are at the back and by the corners at both sides. On the first floor, there are solely two stairways which lead us down to the ground floor.

(2) All fire exit doors should at all time remain closed but not locked.

(3) When it happens to have a fire, we have to remain calm and leave the accident scene immediately. It is essential not to rush out recklessly and impudently as it may arouse panic and cause spontaneous danger. We should assist all children and seniors to leave safely.

(4) Please stay in the parking lot or safe open space around the church after you come out of the church. Do not leave as your family or friends may be seeking you to ease their concern for your safety.

(5) Please follow all instruction from the ushers whenever emergency and unexpected incidents occur. In every aspect, our church building abides by all fire ordinances and regulation. The church in where we worship, praise and give thanks to Our Lord is safe. Hence, let us whole-heartedly and devotedly adore our God, our Lord.
