The Humanitarian Aid organization of the Archdiocese of Toronto, ShareLife, invites all parishioners to make a generous donation, in order to help the storm ravaged citizens of Haiti, as well as the racial massacre situation in Sudan, Africa. On September 27th, the Pope sent $100,000 USD to Caritas Internationalis, to relieve the emergency situation in Haiti. Tropical storm Jeanne brought flooding and mudslide to Haiti, which led to 1,600 casualties, 170,000 people losing their homes, and 1,000 people missing. Currently there are 1,000 survivors of the storm temporarily staying in the Cathedral of Gonaives, 400 are in the Bishop’s residence, and another 300 in the Caritas Center. Since the storm in May, the casualties in Haiti has already amounted to 1,000 in total. In Haiti, 80% of the people live below the poverty line. Currently the relief package consists of tents, sleeping bags, medicine and water. Donation cheques can be made in the parish’s name, but please specify either ‘Haiti’ or ‘Sudan, Africa’. To facilitate speedy relief for the survivors, please act immediately. Thank you for your support. 5) The CCCB is enthusiastic to participate in the discussion regarding marriage laws in Canada.
