“Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”(John 20:29) Jesus promised us that He is with us always, until the end of the world. However, His presence is not always obvious. It is especially tricky to realize that Jesus is amongst us when we encounter difficulties and sufferings. However, we believe that Jesus is present in our neighbours, since He once said, “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, you do to Me.” We also believe that Jesus is present in all our sufferings, because He once put all sufferings on to His own shoulders for our sake. Therefore, when we encounter crosses in our lives, we know that Jesus is carrying them with us. In the boat which was being covered by the waves, Jesus said to His disciples, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” We are blessed when we realize that Jesus is present amongst our neighbours, and that He is present in all our sufferings.
