“Though (Jesus) was in the form of God, (He) did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited.” (Philippians 2:6) When Jesus arrived at the Mount of Olives, He prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me.” And at the time when He was crucified on the cross, He cried out “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” The suffering experienced by Jesus himself is real. The pain and misfortunes experienced by human beings were all laid upon the person of Jesus. The only reason for Him to do this was because He wanted us to know that God always loves and forgives us. The most painful wound suffered by Jesus was the lack of thanksgiving from all of us. The Passion of Jesus seemed unrelated to us and the cross has become an ornament. However, before Jesus died, He still prayed for all of us: “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” Jesus did not mind our lack of remorse. On the other hand, He has always treated us with love and loyalty. Let us pray to our Lord Jesus Christ who has sacrificed Himself for us on the Cross by saying “I have sinned against heaven and against you.”
