“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” (Mark 10:7-8). The author of Genesis vividly captured the origin of the human family, “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’… So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman', for she was taken out of man.” (Genesis 2:21-23) “Bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh” symbolizes the equality of men and women and that both are directly created by God. The formation of the family is the best witness of God’s love manifested in the world because Jesus promised, “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another and believe I am sent by the Father in heaven.” Because men and women are different, there are naturally differences in personalities. Jesus is willing to be the mediator in every family. “For where two or three come together in my name (in love for one another), there am I with them.” The wedding at Cana is the best example.
