“The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.” (John 3:35) The Prophet Isaiah had portrayed the Messiah who was to come to free the people of Israel with a psalm named “Servant of God”: “Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased, Upon whom I have put my spirit; he shall bring forth justice to the nations, Not crying out, not shouting, not making his voice heard in the street. A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoldering wick he shall not quench, Until he establishes justice on the earth; the coastlands will wait for his teaching.” (Isaiah 42:1-3) And this servant meant Jesus who had just been baptized by John. At that moment, a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son, with you I am well pleased” (Luke 3:22) The same voice appeared again when Jesus was glorified, speaking further “… listen to him.” (Luke 9:35) “Love” has been the Truth that Jesus had been preaching, which He had also been exercising in His everyday life. He said: “I came not to be served, but to serve.” And Jesus had shed all His holy blood for the sake of making repentance of all the loveless deeds of mankind. “Love” and “Sacrifice”, with Jesus, was an identical term.
