“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (Matthew 6:8) Jesus taught us that when we pray, 'do not babble', because “Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” According to the Gospel of Luke, 'Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.”' Jesus said to them, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us, and do not subject us to the final test.” (Luke 11:1-4) Our Lord’s prayer is simple and precise, always in harmony with the Father’s will. At the same time, it reminds us to put love and kindness into practice. On one occasion, Jesus asked Sister Faustina, “Why did you pray but asked nothing from me.” Sister Faustina replied, “Lord, you know what I want!” Jesus answered, “I knowing is one thing, your asking is another matter!” As we can see, prayer is also an expression of trust. Just don’t overly babble, while we do so.
