“They ridiculed him.” (Matthew 9:24) The crowd of ignorance sneered at Jesus, because He said, “The girl is not dead but sleeping.” In fact, the soul of the girl has left the body. According to Luke, “Jesus took her by the hand and called to her, ‘Child, arise!’ Her breath returned and she immediately arose” (Luke 8:55) Jesus said, “she is not dead, but sleeping.” can be interpreted as, “she is still alive and living in the arms of the Father.” The crowd sneered Jesus because humans do not believe in revival of the dead. Jesus did not debate with them. Jesus discharged the crowd and entered the room, He took the girl’s hand and she immediately arose. As a result, “They were utterly astounded.” (Mark 5:42) Our lives are in the hands of God. He is not in control of us but only to give us support and protection, so that we can return to the Father’s home in peace. The parable of the prodigal son could be a witness to the greatest love of God, “While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son.’ But his father ordered his servants, ‘Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found.’” (Luke 15:20-24) Lord, please grant us faith in you!
