“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3) When we talk about the kingdom of heaven, we will not ignore discussing about souls. When a person dies, the soul will leave the body. The body and soul will resurrect during the final judgement. If the soul is lost, it does not help the resurrection of the body. “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.” (Matthew 10:28) Whether the souls will be at peace depends if they are with Jesus or not. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves.” (Matthew 11:29) Jesus understands that people’s hearts are shifted towards the material world and it is unattainable for the souls. For people are always “short sighted”, therefore, Jesus reminds us: “What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life?” (Matthew 16:26) To achieve the goal, being patience is the only way: “By your perseverance you will secure your lives.” (Luke 21:19) Time is running out, do not hesitate: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17) We also need to have confidence, God will not forget about us: “Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32) Our faith is not only to believe that the kingdom of heaven is at hand, but to also believe that we are part of the kingdom of heaven.
