“Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah.” (Matthew 1:16) In the book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, there were three other women listed besides Mary. (See Matthew 1:3-6) Joseph was the foster father of Jesus therefore Jesus also belongs to the David family. "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.” (Luke 1:30-31) In the Salvation work of mankind, God takes the initiative role but still needs the cooperation of human beings. “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word!” (Luke 1:38) The word “Christ” in Greek means the anointed one. Throughout Jesus’ life, he was constantly making sacrifices for mankind. Holy Mother shares the same fate as her Son. “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (Luke 2:34-35) Suffering and love seems to be twin brothers. Mary’s approach was to keep all things in heart and praise from her inner self the wonderful works of God’s salvation. Let us believe that God’s salvation towards human souls entirely comes from His great love. If one’s soul feels lost and low-spirited, then that is absolutely not God’s Holy Will.
