恭讀聖馬爾谷福音 6:1-6
那時候，耶穌來到自己的家鄉，門徒也跟隨著他。到了安息日，耶穌便開始在會堂教訓人。
眾人聽了，就驚訝說：「他這一切，是從那裡來的呢？所賜給他的，是何等的智慧？怎麼藉他的手，行出這樣的奇能？這人不就是那個木匠嗎？他不是瑪利亞的兒子；雅各伯、若瑟、猶達、西滿的兄弟嗎？他的姊妹，不是也都在我們這裡嗎？」他們便對耶穌起了反感。
耶穌對他們說：「先知除了在自己的本鄉、本族、和本家之外，是沒有不受尊敬的。」耶穌在那裡，不能行什麼奇能，只給少數的幾個病人覆手，治好了他們。耶穌因他們的無信心，而感到詫異。

He went away from there and came to his own country; and his disciples followed him. What mighty works are wrought by his hands! Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands upon a few sick people and healed them. 6 And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching.

那時，若翰的門徒來到耶穌跟前說：「為什麼我們和法利塞人多次禁食，而你的門徒卻不禁食呢？」耶穌對他們說：「伴郎豈能當新郎與他們在一起的時候悲哀？但日子將要來到：當新郎從他們中被劫去時，那時他們就要禁食了。沒有人用未漂過的布作補釘，補在舊衣服上的，因為補上的必扯裂了舊衣，破綻就更加壞了。也沒有人把新酒裝入舊皮囊裏的；不然，皮囊一破裂，酒也流了，皮囊也壞了；而是應把新酒裝在新皮囊裏，兩樣就都得保全。」

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 9:14-17
The disciples of John approached Jesus and said, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast much, but your disciples do not fast?” Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunken cloth, for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse. People do not put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”
