恭讀聖路加福音 4:38-44
那時候，耶穌從會堂裏出來，進了西滿的家。西滿的岳母正發高熱，他們為他祈求耶穌。耶穌就走到他身邊，叱退熱症，熱症就離開了她；她立刻起來服侍他們。日落後，眾人把所有患各種病症的，都領到他跟前，他就把手覆在每一個人身上，治好了他們。又有些從許多人身上出來的魔鬼吶喊說：「你是天主子！」他便叱責他們，不許他們說話，因為他們知道他是默西亞。天一亮，耶穌就出去到了荒野地方；群眾就尋找他，一直來到他那裏，挽留他不要離開他們，他卻向他們說：「我也必須向別的城傳報天主國的喜訊，因為我被派遣，正是為了這事。」他就常在猶太的各會堂中宣講。

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 4:38-44
After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon. Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her. He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them.
At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them. And demons also came out from many, shouting, “You are the Son of God.” But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ.
At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them. But he said to them, “To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent.” And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

那時候，耶穌下到加里肋亞的葛法翁城，就在安息日教訓人。人都十分驚奇他的教訓，因為他的話具有一種權威。在會堂裏有一個附著邪魔惡鬼的人，他大聲喊叫說：「啊！納匝肋人耶穌，我們與你有什麼相干？你來毀滅我們嗎？我知道你是誰：你是天主的聖者。」耶穌叱責他說：「不要作聲！從這人身上出去！」魔鬼把那人摔倒在人中間，便從他身上出去了，絲毫沒有傷害他。遂有一種驚駭籠罩了眾人，他們彼此談論說：「這是什麼事，他用權柄和能力命令邪魔，而他們竟出去了？」他的名聲便傳遍了附近各地。

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 4:31-37
Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath, and they were astonished at his teaching because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm. They were all amazed and said to one another, “What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

恭讀聖馬爾谷福音 6:17-29
那時候，黑落德為了他兄弟斐理伯的妻子黑落狄雅的原故，因為他娶了她為妻，曾遣人逮捕了若翰，把他押在監裏；因為若翰曾對黑落德說：「你不可佔有你兄弟的妻子。」黑落狄雅便懷恨在心，希望殺害他，只是不能，因為黑落德敬畏若翰，知道他是一個正義聖潔的人，曾保全了他；幾時聽他講道，就甚覺困惑，但仍樂意聽他。 好機會的日子到了：當黑落德在自己的生日上，為自己的重要官員、軍官和加里肋亞的顯要，設了筵席的時候，那個黑落狄雅的女兒便進來跳舞，獲得了黑落德和同席者的歡心。王便對女孩子說：「你要什麼，向我求吧！我必賜給你！」又對她發誓說：「無論你求我什麼，就是我王國的一半，我也必定給你！」她便出去問她的母親說：「我該求什麼？」她母親答說：「洗者若翰的頭。」她便立刻進去，到王面前要求說：「我要你立刻把洗者若翰的頭，放在盤子裏給我！」王遂十分憂鬱；但為了誓言和同席的人，不願對她食言，王遂即差遣衛兵，吩咐把若翰的頭送來。衛兵便去，在監裏斬了若翰的頭，把他的頭放在盤子裏送來，交給了那女孩子，那女孩子便交給了自己的母親。若翰的門徒聽說了，就來領去了他的屍身，把他安葬在墳墓裏。

(Memorial of the Passion of Saint John the Baptist)
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark 6:17-29
Herod was the one who had John the Baptist arrested and bound in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, whom he had married. John had said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.” Herodias harbored a grudge against him and wanted to kill him but was unable to do so. Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and kept him in custody. When he heard him speak he was very much perplexed, yet he liked to listen to him. She had an opportunity one day when Herod, on his birthday, gave a banquet for his courtiers, his military officers, and the leading men of Galilee. Herodias’ own daughter came in and performed a dance that delighted Herod and his guests. The king said to the girl, “Ask of me whatever you wish and I will grant it to you.” He even swore many things to her, “I will grant you whatever you ask of me, even to half of my kingdom.” She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?” She replied, “The head of John the Baptist.” The girl hurried back to the king’s presence and made her request, “I want you to give me at once on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” The king was deeply distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests he did not wish to break his word to her. So he promptly dispatched an executioner with orders to bring back his head. He went off and beheaded him in the prison. He brought in the head on a platter and gave it to the girl. The girl in turn gave it to her mother. When his disciples heard about it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

恭讀聖路加福音 14:1, 7-14
在安息日，耶穌進入一個法利塞人首領的家吃飯；他們就留心觀察他。
耶穌注意到被邀請的人，如何爭坐首席，便對他們講了一個比喻，說：「幾時你被請去赴婚宴，不要坐在首席，怕有比你更尊貴的客人，也被請來，那請你而又請他的主人，要來向你說：請讓座給這位客人！那時，你就要羞愧地退到末座。
「你幾時被請，應去坐末座，等那請你的主人，走來給你說：朋友，請上坐吧！那時，你在同席的眾人面前，才有光彩。因為，凡高舉自己的，必被貶抑；凡貶抑自己的，必被高舉。」
耶穌也向請他的人說：「幾時你設午宴或晚宴，不要請你的朋友、兄弟、親戚，及富有的鄰人，怕他們也要回請你，報答你。你幾時設宴，要請貧窮的、殘廢的、瘸腿的、瞎眼的人。
「這樣，你就有福了，因為他們沒有什麼可報答你；但在義人復活的時候，你必能得到賞報。」

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 14:1, 7-14
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine at the home of one of the leading Pharisees, and the people there were observing him carefully.
He told a parable to those who had been invited, noticing how they were choosing the places of honor at the table. “When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not recline at table in the place of honor. A more distinguished guest than you may have been invited by him, and the host who invited both of you may approach you and say, ‘Give your place to this man,’ and then you would proceed with embarrassment to take the lowest place. Rather, when you are invited, go and take the lowest place so that when the host comes to you he may say, ‘My friend, move up to a higher position.’ Then you will enjoy the esteem of your companions at the table. For every one who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Then he said to the host who invited him, “When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors, in case they may invite you back and you have repayment. Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master’s money. After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, ‘Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. 那時候，耶穌對他的門徒說：「天國好比十個童女，拿著自己的燈出去迎接新郎。他們中五個是糊塗的，五個是明智的。糊塗的拿了燈，卻沒有隨身帶油；而明智的拿了燈，並且在壺裏帶了油。因為新郎延遲﹐她們都打盹睡著了。半夜有人喊說﹕新郎來了﹐你們出來迎接吧！那些童女遂都起來，裝備她們的燈。糊塗的對明智的說：把你們的油分些給我們吧！因為我們的燈也要滅了！明智的答說：怕為我們和你們都不夠，你們更好到賣油的地方去，為自己買吧！她們去買的時候，新郎到了；那準備好了的，就同他進去，共赴婚宴；門遂關上了。末後，其餘的童女也來了，說：主啊！主啊！給我們開門吧！他卻答說：我實在告訴你們：我不認識你們。所以你們該醒寤，因為你們不知道那日子，也不知道那時辰。」

Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked. Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

「究竟誰是那忠信聰明的僕人，主人派他管理自己的家僕，按時配給他們食糧呢？主人來時，看見他如此行事，那僕人才是有福的。我實在告訴你們：主人必要委派他管理自己的一切財產。如果那惡僕心裏說：我主人必要延遲，於是開始拷打自己的同伴，甚或同醉漢一起吃喝。正在他不期待的日子，和想不到的時刻，那僕人的主人要來到：剷除他，使他與假善人遭受同樣的命運；在那裏要有哀號和切齒。」

Jesus said to his disciples: “Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so. Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is long delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards, the servant’s master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”

那時候，耶穌對民眾和眾門徒講論說：「禍哉，你們經師和法利塞假善人！因為你們捐獻十分之一的薄荷、茴香和蒔蘿，卻忽視了法律上最重要的公義、仁慈與信義；這些固然該作，那些也不可放過。瞎眼的嚮導！你們濾出蚊蚋，卻吞下了駱駝。
「禍哉，你們經師和法利塞假善人！因為你們洗擦杯盤的外面，裏面卻滿是劫掠與貪慾。瞎眼的法利塞人！你先應清潔杯的裏面，好叫它外面也成為清潔的。」

那時候，天使加俾額爾奉天主差遣，往加里肋亞的城去，到一位童貞女那裏，她已與達味家族中的一個名叫若瑟的男子訂了婚，童貞女的名字叫瑪利亞。天使進去向她說：「萬福！充滿恩寵者，上主與你同在！」【在女人中你是蒙祝福的。】她卻因這話驚惶不安，便思慮這樣的請安有什麼意思。天使對她說：「瑪利亞，不要害怕，因為你在天主前獲得了寵幸。看，你將懷孕生子，並要給他起名叫耶穌。他將是偉大的，並被稱為至高者的兒子，上主天主要把他祖先達味的御座賜給他。他要為王統治雅各伯家，直到永遠；他的王權沒有終結。」瑪利亞便向天使說：「這事怎能成就？因為我不認識男人。」天使答覆她說：「聖神要臨於你，至高者的能力要庇蔭你，因此，那要誕生的聖者，將稱為天主的兒子。且看，你的親戚依撒伯爾，她雖在老年，卻懷了男胎，本月已六個月了，她原是素稱不生育的，因為在天主前沒有不能的事。」瑪利亞說：「看！上主的婢女，願照你的話成就於我吧！」天使便離開她去了。

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” And the angel said to her in reply, “The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God.” Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. 那時候，耶穌經過各城各鄉，前往耶路撒冷，隨處施教。
有一個人對耶穌說：「主，得救的人果然不多嗎？」
耶穌對群眾說：「你們竭力由窄門進入吧！我告訴你們：因為將來有許多人，想要進去，卻不能進去。及至家主起來，把門關上，你們在外面站著，開始敲門，說：主，請給我們開門吧！他要回答你們說：我不認識你們是那裡的。那時，你們會說：我們曾在你面前，吃過喝過；你也曾在我們的街市，施教過。
「他要說：我告訴你們：我不認識你們是那裡的；你們這些作惡的人，都離開我吧！
「幾時你們望見亞巴郎、依撒格、雅各伯，及眾先知，在天主的國裡，你們卻被摒棄在外面，你們只有哀號和切齒。將有從東從西，從北從南而來的人，參加天主國裡的筵席。
「看！有最後的，將成為最先的，也有最先的，將成為最後的。」

Jesus passed through towns and villages, teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem. Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few people be saved?” He answered them, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough. After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door, then will you stand outside knocking and saying, ‘Lord, open the door for us.’ He will say to you in reply, ‘I do not know where you are from. And you will say, ‘We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.’ Then he will say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from. Depart from me, all you evildoers!’ And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves cast out. And people will come from the east and the west and from the north and the south and will recline at table in the kingdom of God. For behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

那時，耶穌對民眾和他的門徒講論說：「經師和法利塞人坐在梅瑟的講座上，凡他們對你們所說的，你們要行要守，但不要照他們的行為去做，因為他們只說不做。他們把沉重而難以負荷的擔子捆好，放在人的肩上，自己卻不肯用一個指頭動一下。他們所做的一切工作都是為叫人看；為此，他們把經匣放寬，衣繸加長；他們又喜受宴席上的首位，會堂中的上座；喜歡人在街市上向他們致敬，稱他們為『辣彼』。至於你們，卻不要被稱為『辣彼』，因為你們的師傅只有一位，你們眾人都是兄弟；也不要在地上稱人為你們的父，因為你們的父只有一位，就是天上的父。你們也不要被稱為導師，因為你們的導師只有一位，就是默西亞。你們中那最大的，該作你們的僕役。凡高舉自己的，必被貶抑；凡貶抑自己的，必被高舉。」

They tie up heavy burdens hard to carry and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they will not lift a finger to move them. All their works are performed to be seen. They widen their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels. They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues, greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation ‘Rabbi.’ As for you, do not be called ‘Rabbi.’ You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers. Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven. Do not be called ‘Master’; you have but one master, the Christ. The greatest among you must be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

那時，耶穌用比喻對司祭長和民間長老說：「天國好比一個國王，為自己的兒子辦婚宴。他打發僕人去召被請的人來赴婚宴，他們卻不願意來。他又派其他的僕人去，說：你們對被請的人說：看，我已經預備好了我的盛宴，我的公牛和肥畜都宰殺了，一切都齊備了，你們來赴婚宴吧！他們卻不理：有的往自己的田裡去了，有的作自己的生意去了，其餘的竟拿住他的僕人，凌辱後殺死了。國王於是動了怒，派自己的軍隊消滅了那些殺人的兇手，焚毀他們的城市。然後對僕人說：婚宴已經齊備了，但是被請的人都不配。如今你們到各路口去，凡是你們所遇到的，都請來赴婚宴。那些僕人就出去到大路上，凡遇到的，無論壞人好人，都召集了來，婚宴上就滿了坐席的人。
「國王進來巡視坐席的客人，看見在那裡有一個沒有穿婚宴禮服的人，便對他說：朋友，你怎麼到這裡來，不穿婚宴禮服？那人默然無語。國王遂對僕役說：你們捆起他的腳和手來，把他丟在外面的黑暗中；在那裡要有哀號和切齒。因為被召的人多，被選的人少。」

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 22:1-14
Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and the elders of the people in parables saying, “The Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they refused to come. A second time he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet, my calves and fattened cattle are killed, and everything is ready; come to the feast.”’ Some ignored the invitation and went away, one to his farm, another to his business. The rest laid hold of his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. The king was enraged and sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Then the king said to his servants, ‘The feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy to come. Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find.’ The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to meet the guests he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment. He said to him, ‘My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment?’ But he was reduced to silence. Then the king said to his attendants, ‘Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’ Many are invited, but few are chosen.”

那時，耶穌給門徒講了這個比喻：「天國好像一個家主，清晨出去為自己的葡萄園僱工人。他與工人議定一天一個「德納」，就派他們到葡萄園裏去了。約在第三時辰，他又出去，看見另有些人在街市上閒立著，就對他們說：你們也到我的葡萄園裏去吧！凡照公義該給的，我必給你們。他們就去了。約在第六和第九時辰，他又出去，也照樣作了。約在第十一時辰，他又出去，看見還有些人站在那裏，就對他們說：為什麼你們站在這裏整天閒著？他們對他說：因為沒有人僱我們。他對他們說：你們也到我的葡萄園裏去吧！到了晚上，葡萄園的主人對他的管事人說：你叫工人來，分給他們工資，由最後的開始，直至最先的。那些約在第十一時辰來的人，每人領了一個「德納」。那些最先僱的前來，心想自己必會多領；但他們也只領了一個「德納」。他們一領了，就抱怨家主，說：這些最後僱的人，不過工作了一個時辰，而你竟把他們與我們這整天受苦受熱的，同等看待。他答覆其中的一個說：朋友！我並沒有虧負你，你不是和我議定了一個「德納」嗎？拿你的走吧！我願意給這最後來的和給你的一樣。難道不許我拿我所有的財物，行我所願意的嗎？或是因為我好，你就眼紅嗎？這樣，最後的將成為最先的，最先的將成為最後的。」

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 20:1-16
Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The Kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard. After agreeing with them for the usual daily wage, he sent them into his vineyard. Going out about nine o’clock, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and he said to them, ‘You too go into my vineyard, and I will give you what is just.’ So they went off. And he went out again around noon, and around three o’clock, and did likewise. Going out about five o’clock, he found others standing around, and said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ They answered, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You too go into my vineyard.’ When it was evening the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Summon the laborers and give them their pay, beginning with the last and ending with the first.’ When those who had started about five o’clock came, each received the usual daily wage. So when the first came, they thought that they would receive more, but each of them also got the usual wage. And on receiving it they grumbled against the landowner, saying, ‘These last ones worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who bore the day’s burden and the heat.’ He said to one of them in reply, ‘My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? Or am I not free to do as I wish with my own money? Are you envious because I am generous?’ Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
