恭讀聖路加福音 1:5-17
黑落德為猶太王的時候，阿彼雅班次中，有一位司祭，名叫匝加利亞；他的妻子名叫依撒伯爾，是亞郎的後代。兩人在天主前都是正義的人，遵守上主的一切誡命和禮規，無瑕可指。但是，他們沒有孩子，因為依撒伯爾素不生育；兩人又都上了年紀。
有一天，適逢輪到匝加利亞值班，在天主前盡司祭的職務時，按著司祭的慣例，他抽中了籤，得進上主的聖所獻香。獻香的時候，所有百姓都在外面祈禱。有一位上主的天使，站在香壇右邊，顯現給匝加利亞。匝加利亞一見，就驚惶害怕起來。
天使向匝加利亞說：「匝加利亞，不要害怕！因為你的祈禱已蒙應允；你的妻子依撒伯爾，要給你生一個兒子；你要給他起名叫若翰。你必要歡喜踴躍；許多人也要因他的誕生而喜樂，因為他在上主面前，將是偉大的；淡酒濃酒他都不喝，而且，他還在母胎中，就要充滿聖神；他要使許多以色列子民轉向上主、他們的天主；他要以厄里亞的精神和能力，在天主前面先行，使父親的心轉向兒子，使悖逆者返回正義者的心意，為上主準備一個善良的百姓。」──上主的話。

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 1:5-17
When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her.
When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, “No. He will be called John.” But they answered her, “There is no one among your relatives who has this name.” So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God. Then fear came upon all their neighbors, and all these matters were discussed throughout the hill country of Judea. All who heard these things took them to heart, saying, “What, then, will this child be?” For surely the hand of the Lord was with him. The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel. —The Gospel of the Lord.

恭讀聖路加福音　9:18-24

有一天，耶穌獨自祈禱，門徒同衪在一起。衪問他們說：「眾人說我是誰﹖」他們回答說：「有人說是洗者若翰；有人卻說是厄里亞；還有人說是古時的一位先知復活了。」衪問他們說：「但你們說我是誰呢﹖」伯多祿回答說：「天主的受傅者。」但耶穌嚴厲囑咐他們，不要把這事告訴人，說：「人子必須受許多苦，被長老、司祭長和經師們棄絕，並且要被殺；但第三天必要復活。」衪又對眾人說：「誰若願意跟隨我，該棄絕自己，天天背著自己的十字架跟隨我。因為誰若願意救自己性命，必要喪失性命；但誰若為我的緣故喪失自己的性命，這人必能救得性命。」

Luke 9:18-24

Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’” Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Messiah of God.” He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone. He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.” Then he said to all, “If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.”
