那時候，耶穌來到了斐理伯的凱撒勒雅境內，就問門徒說：「人們說人子是誰？」
門徒說：「有人說是洗者若翰；有人說是厄里亞；也有人說是耶肋米亞，或者先知中的一位。」
耶穌對他們說：「你們說我是誰？」
西滿伯多祿回答說：「你是默西亞，永生天主之子。」
耶穌回答他說：「約納的兒子西滿，你是有福的，因為不是肉和血啟示了你，而是我在天之父。我再給你說：你是伯多祿（磐石）；我要在這磐石上，建立我的教會；陰間的門，決不能戰勝她。我要將天國的鑰匙交給你；凡你在地上所束縛的，在天上也要被束縛；凡你在地上所釋放的，在天上也要被釋放。」

For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them.”

那時候，耶穌對他的門徒說：「你們不要把聖物給狗，也不要把你們的珠寶投在豬前，怕牠們用腳踐踏了珠寶，而又轉過來咬傷你們。所以，凡你們願意人給你們做的，你們也要照樣給人做：法律和先知即在於此。你們要從窄門進去，因為寬門和大路導入喪亡；但有許多的人從那裡進去。那導入生命的門是多麼窄，路是多麼狹！找到它的人的確不多。」

How dare you say to your brother, “Let me take the splinter out of your eye,” when all the time there is a plank in your own? Hypocrite! 那時候，耶穌對宗徒說：「你們不要害怕他們，因為沒有遮掩的事，將來不被揭露的；也沒有隱藏的事，將來不被知道的。我在暗中給你們所說的，你們要在光天化日之下，報告出來；你們由耳語所聽到的，要在屋頂上，張揚出去。
「你們不要害怕那殺害肉身，而不能殺害靈魂的；但更要害怕，能使靈魂和肉身，都陷於地獄的那位。
「兩隻麻雀，不是賣一個銅錢嗎？但沒有你們天父的許可，牠們中，連一隻也不會掉在地上。就是你們的頭髮，天父也都一一數過。所以，你們不要害怕；你們比許多麻雀，還貴重呢！
「凡在人面前，承認我的，我在我天上的父面前，也必承認他；但誰如果在人面前，否認我，我在我天上的父面前，也必否認他。」

When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, “No. He will be called John.” But they answered her, “There is no one among your relatives who has this name.” So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed. Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God. Then fear came upon all their neighbors, and all these matters were discussed throughout the hill country of Judea. All who heard these things took them to heart, saying, “What, then, will this child be?” For surely the hand of the Lord was with him.
