那時候，耶穌走遍各城各村講道，宣傳天主國的喜訊，同他在一起的有那十二門徒，還有幾個曾附過惡魔或患病而得治好的婦女。有號稱瑪達肋納的瑪利亞，從她身上趕出了七個魔鬼；又約安納，即黑落德的管家雇撒的妻子，又有蘇撒納；還有別的許多婦女，她們都用自己的財產資助他們。

恭讀聖若望福音　3:13-17
那時候，耶穌對尼苛德摩說：「沒有人上過天，除了那自天降下，而仍在天上的人子。正如梅瑟曾在曠野，高舉了蛇，人子也應照樣，被舉起來，使凡信的人，在祂內得到永生。」天主竟然這樣愛了世界，甚至賜下自己的獨生子，使凡信祂的人，不至喪亡，反而獲得永生，因為天主沒有派遣子到世界上，來審判世界，而是為叫世界，藉祂而獲救。

那時，耶穌往一座名叫納因的城去，他的門徒和許多群眾與他同行。臨近城門時，看，正抬出一個死人來，他是母親的獨生子，母親又是寡婦；且有本城的一大夥人陪著她。主一看見她，就對她動了憐憫的心，向她說：「不要哭了！」遂上前按住棺材，抬棺材的人就站住了。他說：「青年人，我對你說：起來吧！」那死者便坐起來，並開口說話；耶穌便把他交給了他的母親。眾人都害怕起來，光榮天主說：「在我們中間興起了一位大先知，天主眷顧了他自己的百姓。」於是，稱述耶穌的這番話，傳遍了猶太和附近各地。

Jesus went to a town called Nain, accompanied by his disciples and a great number of people. When he was near the gate of the town it happened that a dead man was being carried out for burial, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a considerable number of the townspeople were with her. When the Lord saw her he felt sorry for her. ‘Do not cry’ he said. Then he went up and put his hand on the bier and the bearers stood still, and he said, ‘Young man, I tell you to get up.’ And the dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him to his mother. Everyone was filled with awe and praised God saying, ‘A great prophet has appeared among us; God has visited his people.’ And this opinion of him spread throughout Judaea and all over the countryside.

恭讀聖路加福音　7:1-10
那時，耶穌進了葛法翁。有一個百夫長，他所喜愛的僕人病重垂危。百夫長聽說過耶穌的事，就打發猶太人的幾個長老往他那裏去，求他來治好自己的僕人。他們到了耶穌那裏，懇切求他說：「這個人值得你為他做這事，因為他愛護我們的民族，又給我們建造了會堂。」耶穌就同他們去了。當他離那家已不遠時，百夫長打發朋友向他說：「主啊！不必勞駕了！因為我當不起你到舍下來。為此，我也認為我不堪當親自到你跟前來，只請你說一句話，我的僕人就必好了。因為我雖是受派在人權下的，但是，在我下也有士兵；我對這個說：你去！他就去；對那個說：你來！他就來；對我的奴僕說：你作這個！他就作。」耶穌一聽這些話，就佩服他，遂轉身向跟隨自己的群眾說：「我告訴你們：連在以色列，我也沒有見過這樣大的信德。」被派去的人回到家中，見那僕人已經痊愈了。

When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; 7 therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. 8 For I am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, `Go,’ and he goes; and to another, `Come,’ and he comes; and to my slave, `Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard this he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude that followed him, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave well.
