恭讀聖瑪竇福音　11:2-11
那時候，若翰在獄中聽了基督所行的，就派遣他的門徒去，對祂說：「祢就是要來的那一位，或是我們還要等候另一位？」 耶穌回答他們說：「你們去，把你們所見所聞的，報告給若翰：瞎子看見，跛子行走，痲瘋病人得了潔淨，聾子聽見，死人復活，窮苦的人得了喜訊。凡不因我而絆倒的，是有福的！」他們走後，耶穌就對群眾講論若翰說：「你們出去到荒野裡，是為看什麼呢？為看隨風搖曳的蘆葦嗎？你們出去到底是為看什麼？為看一位穿細軟衣服的人嗎？啊！那穿細軟衣服的人，是在王宮裡。你們究竟為什麼出去？為看一位先知嗎？是的！我給你們說：而且他比先知還大。關於這人，經上記載說：『看，我派遣我的使者在祢面前，他要在祢前面預備祢的道路。』 我實在告訴你們：在婦女所生的，沒有興起一位比洗者若翰更大的；但在天國裡最小的，也比他大。」

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 11:2-11

2 Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples 3 and said to him, “Are you he who is to come, or shall we look for another?” 4And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: 5 the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. 6 And blessed is he who takes no offense at me.” 7 As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to behold? A reed shaken by the wind? 8 Why then did you go out? To see a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, those who wear soft raiment are in kings’ houses. 9 Why then did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.10 This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you.’ 11 Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

門徒們問耶穌說：「為什麼經師們說厄利亞應當先來？」耶穌回答說：「厄利亞的確要來，且要重整一切。我告訴你們：厄利亞已經來了，人們卻認不出他，反而任意對待他。人子也將受他們磨難。」這時，門徒們才明白耶穌這話是指著授洗的若翰說的。

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 17:10-13

10 And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Eli’jah must come?” 11 He replied, “Eli’jah does come, and he is to restore all things; 12 but I tell you that Eli’jah has already come, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of man will suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.

「我要用什麼來比擬這個世代呢？它好像一群坐在大街上的兒童，在對另一些兒童喊叫說：『我們為你們吹笛，你們卻不舞蹈；我們唱哀歌，你們卻不捶胸。』若翰來了，不吃也不喝，人們說他附了魔。人子來了，又吃又喝，而人們說：看！一個貪食好酒之徒！是稅吏和罪人的朋友！但智慧通過自己的工程，證明自己的正義。」
—基督的福音。

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 11:16-19

16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places and calling to their playmates, 17 `We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.’ 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, `He has a demon’; 19 the Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”

耶穌進了耶里哥，正經過的時候，有一個人，名叫匝凱，他原是稅吏長，是個富有的人。他想要看看耶穌是什麼人；但由於人多，不能看見，因為他身材短小。於是他往前奔跑，攀上了一棵野桑樹，要看看耶穌，因為耶穌就要從那裏經過。耶穌來到那地方，抬頭一看，對他說：「匝凱，你快下來！因為我今天必須住在你家中。」他便趕快下來，喜悅地款留耶穌。眾人見了，都竊竊私議說：「他竟到有罪的人那裏投宿。」匝凱站起來對主說：「主，你看，我把我財物的一半施捨給窮人；我如果欺騙過誰，我就以四倍賠償。」耶穌對他說：「今天救恩臨到了這一家，因為他也是亞巴郎之子。因為人子來，是為尋找及拯救迷失了的人。」

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 19:1-10

1 He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town. 2 Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, 3 was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way. 5 When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 And he came down quickly and received him with joy. 7 When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.” 8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over.” 9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.”
