恭讀聖瑪竇福音　17:10-13

門徒們問耶穌說：「為什麼經師們說厄里亞應當先來？」耶穌回答說：「厄里亞的確要來，且要重整一切。我告訴你們：厄里亞已經來了，人們卻認不出他，反而任意對待他。人子也將受他們磨難。」這時，門徒們才明白耶穌這話是指著授洗的若翰說的。

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 17:10-13

10 the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Eli’jah must come?” 11 He replied, “Eli’jah does come, and he is to restore all things; 12 but I tell you that Eli’jah has already come, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of man will suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
